Speech Language Pathologist (Pediatric) 

Type of Position: Contract

Required Education: Masters

Required Experience: 1 year

Elves’ School Program is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist with interest in and experience working with pediatric and adolescent population with complex communication needs. The candidate will join our multidisciplinary team of professionals within an educational environment. The successful applicant will complete assessments for children ages 3 to 6 years of age.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and willingness to work with an interdisciplinary team with family-focused care as a priority. We are looking for an individual with experience in the field, who can work in a team atmosphere and is confident in providing and carrying out Speech Language Assessments, treatment goals, record keeping and report writing.

The selected candidate must be a registered member of ACSLPA and in good standing with the college.

Respite Program Support Worker

Type of Position: Part-time and on call (relief) positions available

Hours of Work: Saturdays between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm

Start Date: August 19, 2017

Hourly Rate: $15.00 – 17.00/hour (depending on experience)

Type and Level of Work

Job requirements include assisting with the implementation of programs, activities and daily routines within the FASD Respite Program under the direction and supervision of the Respite Program Coordinator, Family Support Worker, or Executive Director.

  • Personal care, lifting and transferring are integral aspects of this position.
  • Positive and fun team environment with professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  1. Developing and implementing children’s recreational programs within small groups.
  2. Constant supervision for children involved in program to maintain safety and skill-building.
  3. Assist with organization, preparation and construction of materials. Implement and take data on designated programs if requested by Respite Program Coordinator.
  4. Provide positive behavioural supports and guided learning strategies.
  5. Work within a team setting, accepting and giving input from/to all members of the trans-disciplinary team at all stages from planning to evaluation of child progress.
  6. Communicate forward information relative to children to Respite Program Coordinator and appropriate resource team member, if applicable.
  7. Direct parental communication to the Respite Program Coordinator or Family Support Worker.
  8. Supervise children at arrival and departure times as designated.
  9. Outside of joint planning and/or protected time, there is a primary responsibility for completion of routine events such as, but not limited to, laundry and dishes.
  10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Related Post-Secondary Education in the Human Services Field.
  • One year related/direct experience working with children with special needs.
  • Valid First Aid certification is required.
  • Criminal Record Check/Child Intervention Check is required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Positive Behaviour Support, or MANDT Certification required.
  • Good communication skills.
